Hyundai has announced its luxury Genesis brand will be spun-off from the mainstream and will become a stand-alone brand.
The six-model lineup will commence roll-out from December and will be complete by 2020.
Genesis vehicles will offer a distinct identity, badge, model names and customer support program.
That badge will be a new wing-type emblem redesigned from the version we know in Australia on the current Genesis sedan.
Future models will be designated G70, G80, G90 according to vehicle type.
To head the design work, Genesis has secured Luc Donckerwolke who currently head design for Volkswagen group brands Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, SEAT and Skoda.
He will work with Hyundai-Kia’s President and Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer.
Genesis will initially focus on Korea, China, North America and the Middle East and, as new models come on-stream, will move into Europe and Asia.
Hyundai says Genesis is all about: “catering for ‘new luxury’ customers, delivering personalized and human-centered’ experiences”.
