Hyundai America have issued a recall for 138,000 Hyundai Tucson (Hyundai ix35 in Australia and Europe)sold in America between 2011 and 2014. According to a report that was posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website, Hyundai America issued the recall because the driver’s side air bag may not have been properly attached to the steering wheel.
Hyundai America explained that drivers of the ix35/Tucson might notice the problem as a rattle because two bolts holding the air bag module to the steering wheel were not properly tightened.
Hyundai America said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries because of the defect.
Hyundai Australia’s Public Relations General Manager Bill Thomas told Carshowroom.com.au “ We are examining this case and will make an announcement at the appropriate time”.
All cars affected by a safety recall are listed on the Product Safety Recalls Australia site.
