And it must be said, it looks rather nice doesn’t it?
Ahead of its April 17th debut, Korean marque Hyundai have teased their hot new compact-SUV, the Venue. Sitting below the Kona, the Venue is set to shake up the compact car space when it arrives, with Hyundai very confident in its capabilities.
“From everyday workplace activities to weekend fun, the Venue is a great fit in accommodating busy lifestyles with an abundance of playful and practical features including seamless safety, versatility, and connectivity.” – Hyundai Motor Company
While the sketches that Hyundai’s released are certainly revealing in terms of the specific aesthetics that we can expect to see from the small crossover, unfortunately for Hyundai, we’ve already seen pretty much all there is to see of the Venue thanks to the sneaky spy shots that we published last week. The sketches confirm that the face of the Venue will be more aligned with the Santa Fe rather than the Kona, while the tail is more squared-off with small taillights and the ‘Venue’ script underlining the Hyundai badge.
There’s also a Turbo badge on the rear, suggesting that Hyundai may fit this small car with the 1.6-litre turbo 4-cylinder from the larger Kona, which may offer as much as 130kW and 265Nm. But the Kona Turbo, notably, is available only as an all-wheel drive. This could mean the Venue may offer all-wheel drive on some variants, though all-paw traction would likely be limited to only the highest models. Regardless of all-wheel or front-wheel drive, expect to find a lineup consisting of mostly automatics, with manual transmissions available only on the price-leading models.
Hyundai Australia has confirmed that the Venue will be launched on our shores sometime in the second-half of this year, and there will be more specifics & details to be shared closer to its local arrival.
