Hyundai has been teasing us with a coupe crossover called the Vision T concept and the brand says it’s going to be ground-breaking, possibly.
The Korean manufacturer has said that the concept SUV will be a plug-in hybrid, which is nice, but isn’t exactly an earth-shattering idea. That said, more details on its powertrain are due to be revealed at the 2019 Automobility LA which kicks off November 18th.
Though it isn’t clear if the model shown in the teaser picture is going to be a new addition to the lineup or be the latest iteration of one of its existing models, it’s possible that the styling cues seen here might make its way to an upcoming production model including, some say, the next generation Tucson.
The pictures show deeply creased side panels, a sweeping roofline, steeply raked windscreen, frameless windows and a pretty interesting front fascia. The grille is similar to the Le Fil Rouge concept’s Cascading design. However, here it’s dubbed the Parametric Air Shutter grille which remains closed when stationary but once moving each individual ‘cell’ in the grille moves “in a prescribed sequence” that prioritises fuel efficiency and aerodynamics. The Vision T also has Hidden Signature Lamp headlights that are firmly integrated into the grille.
“We pursue innovative solutions in design and add emotional value to our product experience through sensuous sportiness design language,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Centre.
We genuinely are interested in seeing what innovations Hyundai has in store for this new concept. Watch this space of updates.
