Yep yep, definitely a V8.
Resurgent British luxury marque Jaguar is hard at work, with its upcoming F-Pace SVR performance SUV spotted doing laps at the revered Nürburgring test track ahead of its eagerly-anticipated launch sometime later this year.
While Jaguar’s done its best to keep visual cues hidden, what it cannot hide is the sonorous V8 roar. The F-Pace SVR is expected to pack the same supercharged 5.0-litre V8 from the F-Type SVR, along with the eight-speed automatic gearbox that saw service in the sports car. The F-Pace SVR is expected to retain all-wheel drive, which will be very useful in getting all of its 423kW of power and 700Nm of torque to the ground.
Despite Jag’s best efforts, what’s clear to see are the aggressive front spoilers and massive air ducts that flank the front numberplate. What’s also obvious are the bigger, fatter wheels to help keep the hot F-Pace on the tarmac, as well as titanium exhausts to allow the engine to breathe better. Suspension tweaks are also expected, as would be required to bring the game onto rivals like the Porsche Macan.
The F-Pace SVR should be able to do the century sprint in around 4.0-seconds, which will see it fare favourably against the Porsche Macan Turbo’s 4.4-second recorded time for the same feat. The SVR will sit at the top of the F-Pace tree, with prices guesstimated to be around $170,000 by the time it hits the road. That would be a considerable premium above the Macan Turbo, but it’s possible that the Jag will offer better standard kit (something that Porsche’s really rather bad at).
