A recall notice has been posted today from Jeep Australia, with concerns over a fuel leak in 62 Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2016 model year.
According to the notice, the affected cars may be fitted with a defective fuel rail crossover tube, that was identified as a manufacturing fault. Should the issue present itself, the crossover tube could leak, and cause a fire in the engine bay. We think it goes without saying that this could pose a serious risk to passengers and drivers alike.
A VIN list for the affected vehicles can be viewed here. Owners will be contacted by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Australia via mail, though we urge owners to visit their nearest Jeep dealership to have the offending fuel tube replaced at no cost. More information can be obtained from their customer service line, at 1-300-133-079.
