Jeep Australia has just rolled out its flagship luxury variant of the new Grand Cherokee for the 2020 model year, territory that was previously occupied by the Overland.
Visually, not much has changed with only minor aesthetic updates made to the front and rear fascia such as LED fog lights and dual trapezoidal exhausts tips.
Furthermore, the Platinum package comes fitted as standard for the Aussie market and features a host of chrome fittings such as the accented front and rear lower fascia, side window surrounds, side sills, roof rails, tail lamp bezels, rear step pad, badges, 20-inch alloy wheels and, of course, its signature 7-slot grille.
On the inside this luxury variant comes with NaturaPlus soft leather upholstery on the seats, instrument binnacle, central armrest, a suede-like headliner and illuminated door sill plates.
Moreover, the Summit comes with a 19-speaker Harman/Kardon surround sound system with Active Noise Canceling tech that claims to reduce cabin noise by some 10db, accompanied by an 8.4-inch display serving up infotainment via Uconnect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Additionally, Jeep offers customers the “Signature Leather Wrapped Interior Package” option which gives them Laguna leather seats with quilted diamond stitching as well as leather-wrapped door panels, centre console and glove box for $9,950.
The Summit is offered solely with a 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 producing 184kW and 570Nm of torque that’s paired up with an 8-speed automatic with low range. Jeep fits the Quadra-Lift air suspension system as standard equipment on the Summit and claims a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg.
The Grand Cherokee Summit is awarded with a 5-star ANCAP safety rating as it ships with a suite of advanced driver assistance tech such as Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning and Active Cruise Control.
