All style, no trousers.
Korean carmaker Kia is set to introduce a new range-topping variant to the local Picanto lineup, which promises to add a bit more visual va-va-voom to the already stylish micro hatch. Dubbed the Picanto GT-Line, the new range topper will offer all the trimmings you’d expect of a warm hatch, without the motive force to back up the looks.
So under the bonnet, expect to find the same 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated four-pot petrol mill, with a yawn-inducing 62kW and 122Nm on tap. While the Picanto is available with manual and automatic transmission options, the GT-Line is expected to offer only the four-speed automatic, which we’d only just describe as adequate.
There is at least a bump in kit. There’s a full bodykit and 16-inch alloys on offer, along with projector headlights flanked by LED daytime running lights, dual exhaust tips, ‘premium’ leatherette/fabric combination upholstery, and metallic pedals. There are also LED taillights offered, which should add a bit more drama to the affair at night.
Atop that, the GT-Line will also get all the standard kit already on offer with the ’S’ variant, which throws in things like AEB, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen (with smartphone mirroring, bluetooth, and external inputs), automatic headlights, rear parking sensors and camera, as well as a multifunction steering wheel.
