Today, Kia Australia has issued a recall for its popular Optima Si sedan, following concerns regarding cracking front axle driveshafts.
Should an affected car experience this fault, the crack can cause a loud noise, leading to a loss of power and possible loss of control. Naturally, this increases the risk of an accident.
A list of VIN numbers of the affected vehicles can be viewed here.
This recall stems from a similar callback that was issued in the United States, where over 12,000 vehicles were affected. Affected owners will be contacted by Kia Australia via mail, though we advise owners to check their VIN numbers and visit their nearest Kia authorised dealership to have the offending part replaced free-of-charge.
Those looking for more information on the recall can contact Kia Australia at 131-542. And those looking for more information on Kia, you can check out our Showroom.
