Lamborghini Hypes Up Huracan Performante Reveal

Lamborghini is closing in on the reveal of the ultimate incarnation of their Huracan supercar, the Perfomante, which is set for February 23rd before a full premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Prior to this, we have seen teasers harping on the wonders of their newly developed composite materials to make the more powerful Huracan a much lighter car than originally. Much like its predecessor, the Gallardo Superleggera, this track-focused machine is clearly meant to be the ultimate performance version of Lambo’s current lower-to-mid tier offering.

Like the many spy shots seen of it being honed on the Nurburgring, this teaser shows us more of what we’ve already seen. While the shape can be safely assumed as production-ready, the distracting camouflage wrap hides the smaller details that set it apart.

Despite this, the car’s new stance and more aggressive aerodynamic components are plain to see, even baring a resemblance to the newer Aventador S. At the rear, no one can miss that fixed rear wing. Lamborghini has also seemed to have adopted new engine cover and different exhaust layout too.

Just how much the naturally aspirated V10 engine will be pushed remains a mystery until, tentatively, February 23rd. In normal tune, it can produce as much as 455kW and 560Nm while revving out to a lofty 8,250rpm. Coupled with an all-wheel drive system, it can accelerate to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Like the Gallardo Superleggera before it, the Huracan Performante should retain its all-wheel drive advantage. Though it’s unclear whether the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission will be the default choice here, mirroring the rest of the range, or will Lamborghini offer a manual as a no-cost option.
