Lexus has excavated the Australian F1 Grand Prix from a deep hole by filling the two-year void of the popular celebrity race on the event schedule.
While the Melbourne Major Events management team has been unable to secure a vehicle company to back the celebrity race for two years, the March 2011 date has proved to be perfect for Lexus to launch its acclaimed CT200h hatchback.
So this year’s Australian Grand Prix Celebrity race will be a world-first – 27 petrol-electric hybrid vehicles will compete for racing glory at Albert Park.
And – bringing a touch of Le Mans to the F1 event, the Lexus Celebrity Chal
lenge will have two winners – the first to greet the chequered flag and the driver who is the most fuel-efficient.
In fact, Lexus is claiming a global first as the 2011
