For 2020, Lexus Australia has bolstered its exclusively electrified ES range by more than doubling the number of variants on offer with the inclusion of the F-Sport to the existing Luxury and Sport Luxury variants. This grows the number of variants from two to five.
Additionally, the brand is offering more equipment as part of the Enhancement Pack for Luxury and F Sport variants while the Sport Luxury remains the best specified.
Kicking off with a sticker price of $60,488, the ES 300h Luxury gains the Lexus Safety System+ which includes a pre-collision safety system which detects pedestrians as well as vehicles, autonomous emergency braking, all-speed active cruise control, lane tracing assist, ten airbags and a four-sensor intelligent clearance sonar for parking.
Furthermore, satellite navigation and infotainment is dished up via a 12.3-inch centre screen featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Included too are a head up display and a wireless smartphone charging pad as standard throughout the range.
Adding the Enhancement Pack to the Luxury variant gets you a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and parking support brake system that can automatically brake to avoid colliding with people or objects. In the cabin, you’ll find leather-accented power adjustable and ventilated seats up front with adjustable lumbar support for the driver and electric rear sunshades as well as Shimamoku synthetic striped wood trim on the steering wheel, instrument panel and doors. The Luxury is available with a choice of black or chateau interior colours. Finishing off the $68,875 saloon are 18-inch alloy wheels.
Moving on to the F Sport, the newly-added variant to the ES range announces its arrival with an angular mesh-grille, 19-inch F Sport alloy wheels, F Sport badging and Tri-Beam LED headlights with adaptive high beams and sequential indicators. Included in the $69,755 price tag is Adaptive Variable Suspension featuring five drive modes.
The interior is much like the Luxury variant except for the F-embossed front headrests and perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel with Hadori finishing on the aluminium trim. Also the F Sport’s interior is exclusively available in F Sport black or flare red. The Enhancement Pack brings forth a 17-speaker Mark Levinson stereo, heated steering wheel and a powered boot with kick sensor priced from $73,755.
The long list of features culminates with the flagship of the ES range, the Sport Luxury. At $75,488, one should expect to find topaz brown or rich cream semi-aniline leather seats, tri-zone climate control, reclining heated rear seats, rear door sunshades and optional bamboo ornamentation. The variant gets specific 18-inch alloy wheels, though it retains the standard suspension setup as found on the Luxury variant.
The entire front-driven HEV range is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that’s mated to a CVT and complemented by an electric motor to produce a total system output of 160kW and 221Nm of torque.
The Lexus ES 300h lands on our shores in October and is available in 12 colours with White Nova and Cobalt Mica reserved for the F Sport variants.
