We may not get it here though, not that we need it.
Some news from a land far-far-away, Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus has introduced the LX Superior for the 2018 model year in Russia, with the distinctive-looking large SUV expected to hit showrooms in the Federation by October. This information was first published by Drive Russia.
The LX SUV gains a bunch of aesthetic tweaks to turn it into a ‘Superior’ model, and sees fitment of an intricate black latticework grille, gloss-black wing mirror caps, and an all-round lower bodykit that extends the chin, sides, and lower-rear edge of the LX SUV to a degree. Built on the existing LX570, the Superior also sees standard kit like 21-inch alloys, fully-adaptable shocks and coils, and LED headlights.
The cabin wasn’t lavished with quite as much attention as the exterior, with changes limited to aluminium pedals, a wider range of wood trim options, and black ceiling headlining (though this is a cost-option). The engine in the Superior remains unchanged and sports the same 5.7-litre V8, which generates 274kW/530Nm in the Russian market, with power going to all-four wheels via the same eight-speed automatic that the LX uses globally.
It’s reported by Indian Autos Blog that the LX570 Superior will also be headed to select Middle Eastern market, though there it will be marketed as the LX570S. Aside from the unique name, LX570S’ will see the interior clad in a unique ‘rose red’ colour scheme with black touches here and there.
Thus far, we have not heard any word from Lexus Australia about the possible introduction of the LX Superior in our market, though we’d hazard a guess that we’ll be given a miss due to the limited appeal of the LX (largely due to its ridiculously-large but mechanically-wonderous V8) and the sheer ostentatiousness of this particular model.
