As expected, the all-new fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 promises to be the best yet with a raft of the company’s breakthrough SkyActiv technology.
The Paris unveiling of the latest-generation Mazda MX-5 comes exactly 25 years since the very first one debuted at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show and revealed a stunning new look in a two-seater which is 100kgs lighter than the current model.
Still front-engine/rear-wheel-drive and boasting the ideal 50:50 weight distribution, the all-new Mazda MX-5 is powered by a SkyActiv-G 1.5-litre petrol engine driving through a SkyActiv-MT six-speed manual transmission.
However North American market models will score an as yet un-named 2.0-litre engine.
Mazda Australia is keeping tight-lipped about local details.
What we do know from Paris is the all-new Mazda MX-5 has muscled-up with a purposeful look we really like.
And Mazda being Mazda you can bet the driving dynamics will again be top shelf (every SkyActiv Mazda we’ve driven has scored well in that department and that 100kgs weight loss will certainly help the all-new MX-5.
