Lister, famed British race car maker and producer of bespoke vehicles, revealed that they will be turning a Jaguar F-Pace into the fastest SUV in the world, capable of a top speed in excess of 200mph (or 322km/h), beating the current title holder: the Lamborghini Urus.
Called the LFP, you can imagine it to be quite heavily modified, and rightly the Lister Motor Company have done some extensive work to the F-Pace’s powertrain and structure to help it cope with its ultimate objective of pure speed. However, as evidenced by the plush quilted leather interior, luxury is not something they’re willing to sacrifice.
Details are scarce at the moment, but Lister did mention the LFP would have an engine outputting 670hp (500kW), and we suspect this to be based on the 5.0-litre V8 used in the most powerful JLR products, a motor they already have much experience with.
With that much shove under the bonnet and traction spread through all four wheels, the LFP is said to be capable of a 3.5-second sprint from 0-100km/h. Renders of the exterior, shown here, while expectedly more aggressive than the standard Jag SUV, does not stray very far from social acceptability.
The green with yellow accents do remind us of Lotus and/or Caterham, conversely the black with yellow accents do look like a very plausible factory paint combination. Sure, the exaggeratedly large wheels might be a slip over the line, but we thoroughly believe the modifications made to the fascia are necessary to both feed the 500kW engine with air to combust as well as to keep it cool.
There’s some substantial aero work done to the lower portion of that front end, probably to better channel air to its flat underbody to maximise downforce without the aid of a big outboard wing. Much of these new elements are presumed to be constructed of carbon fibre.
Order books for the LFP are now open, with buyers keen on what could well be the quickest production SUV to ever exist expected to pay £140,000 for the privilege of ownership. In a way, should the crown go to Lister upon dethroning the Urus, Jaguar should feel almost as proud.
