Australia’new Lotus distributor, Ateco Automotive (also the local agent for Ferrari and Maserati) continues to sharpen the local model lineup – this time announcing big changes for the potent Exige.
Now priced at $79,990, the latest Exige S undercuts the previous model by $25,000. And when you consider the Lotus Exige now comes standard with the previously optional Sport Pack ($6,000) – the total package is actually $31,000 better than before.
By any measure, the Lotus Exige is an epic British sports car which ideally doubles as a workday commuter and weekend track star.
Power comes from a Lotus-developed, 1.8-litre supercharged Toyota engine with 153kW, which combines with the Exige’s miniscule 935kgs to weight to deliver zero to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds (faster than many Porsche 911 models).
Lotus Exige looks racy and purposeful even standing still – highlighted by the Formula One style roof-mounted airbox which feeds cool air directly into the intercooler.
And despite its track day prowess, the Lotus Exige is nocely equipped inside with power windows, air-conditioning and figure-hugging ProBAX sports seats.
