“All New Tougher Next Generation” model. No, really.
It’s refreshing that manufacturers like Indian company Mahindra still take ‘toughness’ seriously, as is evident with their latest offering, the “next generation” PikUp. The PikUp is a utilitarian work-focused ute that serves up good value and great ability, balancing budget and luxury pretty well.
The first-generation PikUp, introduced here in 2007, has done thousands of miles of duty in the hands of Australian customers, and has built something of a reputation for its no-nonsense tough-as-nails personality. And this new one aims to build on that further.

The PikUp is available in our market in a variety of body styles, and two distinct trim levels. The PikUp S10 flagship (the S6 entry-level variant is the other, uh, variant) comes with niceties like improved fabric upholstery, a 6-inch full-colour touchscreen infotainment system, remote central locking (don’t knock it, this is a work-ute), satellite navigation, cruise control, multifunction steering wheel, and even a reversing camera.
S10s even get things like automatic wipers and “intelligent headlamps,” though we’re not sure what those are. There’s even climate control, something practically unheard of at this price point in this segment.
Standard across the range are comprehensive safety features, with things like hill descent control, stability control, ABS, EBD, roll-over mitigation, and a collapsible steering column all getting thrown on as standard. There are three-point seat belts for all passengers, while double-cab variants even get ISOFIX mounts with top-tethers.
Powering the “no-nonsense” PikUp is a 2.2-litre turbodiesel (it’s called ‘mHawk,’ in case you’re curious), putting out a decent if not remarkable 103kW and 330Nm, sending power to either the rear wheels or all four (depending on variant) through a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. All-wheel drive models also gain low-range gearing.
The Mahindra PikUp will be available with a range of optional accessories, all available via Mahindra’s ‘Genuine Factory Accessory Program,’ which includes things like canvas seat covers, a lift kit, nudge bars and a variety of trays. There’s no hiding that this is a work ute under it all, no matter how you cut it. It’s also presently available with sharp drive-away deals, which are:

All Mahindra PikUp variants get a 5-year/100,000km warranty with 5-years roadside assistance, and can be had in white, silver, black, and red.
