Very black.

2018 Maserati Quattroporte GTS Gransport – Nerissimo Edition

Sometimes, the sheer rarity and exclusivity of a car can elevate the status of a middling proposition to relatively undeserving levels. One could argue that the Maserati Quattroporte has been that very middling option for some time now, and we have a sneaking suspicion that the Italian carmaker said a prayer before they released the Quattroporte GTS Gransport Nerissimo Edition in the hopes that its super-limited 50-unit run would see collectors open their garages (and their wallets) to take home this very dark, very brooding machine.

‘Nerissimo’ literally translates to ‘very black,’ and that should give you an idea of what this special edition is all about. Just 5 Quattroporte GTS Gransport Nerissimo models are coming to Australia, bearing a price tag of $371,990 before on-road costs. We say that’s perhaps more than enough. Predictably, the Quattroporte GTS Nerissimo comes with a myriad of special aesthetic changes (which are mostly black) to denote it as the very-black edition, and this model only comes in black (did you really have to ask?)

Unique specs for the GTS Nerissimo include things like the deep Nero Ribelle exterior finish, as well as the piano-black treatment of the front grille, the rear diffuser, and the bumper inserts. Black is also the hue of choice for the 21-inch alloys, and the exhaust tips, and even the window surrounds, though the front-splitter, B-pillar, rear-splitter, door handles, and door mirrors are in carbon-fibre (though you wouldn’t guess it). The brake calipers, interestingly, are not black. They’re red.

Step inside and you’ll find 12-way adjustable front sports seats, black Alcantara headliner, a carbon-fibre trimmed steering wheel, black leather upholstery (duh), though there’s red stitching and a red embroidered Maserati trident on the headrests.

No changes have been made under the bonnet, so there’s still a 3.8-litre biturbo V8 petrol mill, making an amazing 390kW and 650Nm. That’s capable of rocketing the Quattroporte GTS Nerissimo from rest to 100km/h in just 4.7-seconds, thanks in part to the overboots function that enables 710Nm to be accessed between 2250rpm-3500rpm.

The Maserati Quattroporte GTS Gransport Nerissimo Edition is available to order from your local Maserati dealership, though for how long, we cannot say.
