New Powertrains for Mazda CX-7

Fresh new styling, an enhanced range of features and a wide choice of engines and transmissions will be highlights of the updated Mazda CX-7 crossover wagon due in November.

Mazda Australia will add two new engines to this versatile and stylish sports utility vehicle. One is the 2.2-litre turbodiesel with 127 kW of power and a hefty 400 Nm of torque. The other is the 2.5-litre petrol unit (120 kW, 205 Nm). Both have already proven their credentials in the popular Mazda6 range.

Recognising the diverse needs of Australian SUV customers, Mazda Australia will be offering them a choice of no fewer than three engines, each of which is ideally suited to this vehicle. The turbocharged 2.3-litre petrol four, which already does sterling service in the current CX-7 will continue. It develops 175 kW of power and double that number of Sir Isaac Newton's metres.

Australia is the only market in which Mazda will offer the CX-7 with three different engines. There will also be three transmissions, two drivetrains and four model grades. All levels will offer a high level of standard features. Value for money will continue to be a major element of the CX-7's appeal.

The newly adopted front-wheel-drive CX-7 Classic utilises the naturally aspirated 2.5 litre engine and is mated to a 5-speed Activematic transmission. The inline-four, DOHC, 16-valve configuration delivers maximum power of 120kW at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 205Nm at 2,000rpm. Fuel economy is an impressive 9.4 litres per 100km.

The new CX-7 Diesel Sports with 2.2 litre turbo-diesel engine boasts maximum power of 127kW at 3,500rpm and a maximum torque of 400Nm at 2,000rpm. Power is delivered via a 6-speed manual transmission and transferred to the road through Mazda's proven Active Torque Split All-Wheel-Drive system. Impressive performance is matched by keen fuel economy of only 7.6 litres per 100km.

Carried over in the refreshed CX-7 range and available in the CX-7 Classic Sports and CX-7 Luxury Sports is the powerful 2.3-litre Direct Injection Spark Ignition turbo engine. Mated to a 6-speed Activematic transmission, it also utilises the Active Torque Split All-Wheel-Drive system. All models in the CX-7 crossover range will feature updated styling and revised features details of which will be released in the near future.
