Showing it is not lagging in the electric car race, Mazda is set to commence leasing electric versions of the Mazda Demio (Mazda2 outside Japan) from October.
Around 100 of the electric Mazda2 vehicles will be leased to local governments and corporate customers in the Chugoku region of Japan(where Mazda’s Hiroshima head office is located).
Mazda says the electric Mazda2 provides the same internal space and luggage capacity as the petrol version and its lithium ion battery provides a range of 200kms.
The lease program is another step in Mazda’s development of zero-emissions vehicles.
