Sydney-based Trivett Automotive, the Australian McLaren agent, has confirmed the new 650S model is now available, priced from $441,500 (coupe) and $486,250 (Spider).
That’s actually quite a bargain considering the gob-smacking technology included in the British supercar and given the Ferrari 458 Italia starts at $525,417.
Lamborghini’s all-new Huracan carries a sticker of $428,000.
Of course the 650S joins the current 12C models in the McLaren lineup which, according to McLaren Cars boss Ron Dennis, enjoys “a number of happy customers here in Australia.”
The 650S employs an updated version of McLaren’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine with 478kW/678Nm providing zero to 100km/h in – get this! – 3.0-seconds. Considering membership to the supercar league requires a sub-4.0 second time, that’s, well…super.
Inside, the 650S is a bit more racy that the 12C with pure race seats and carbon-fibre trim.
