Mercedes-Benz Australia has just introduced a new limited-edition AMG based off the current C63 S. The company’s local arm says that they’re only bringing 63 units into Australia and New Zealand, priced from $188,600 (MRLP).
As the name implies, the Aero Edition 63 features wind-tunnel-tested aerodynamic extras which increases downforce and grip, including an AMG Performance rear spoiler, a distinctive front lip, an aerodynamically optimised diffuser, and additional side facings for the air vents in the rear apron.
As you can imagine, several of the additional components added to this limited-edition rocket are made from lightweight composite materials. These include the likes of the AMG front apron A-wing, inserts in the side sills, the diffuser insert in the AMG rear apron, the rear spoiler, and the exterior mirror housings.
The generous use of carbon fibre doesn’t just end there but also features throughout the dashboard including the centre console trim and the flat-bottomed AMG Performance Steering Wheel.
The Aero Edition 63 will receive AMG Performance front seats as standard which will be upholstered in Magma Grey and Black Nappa leather and is finished-off with yellow stripes. The yellow stripes feature elsewhere in the cabin too including the rear seats, centre console, dashboard and door trim.
In terms of performance the Aero Edition 63 remains largely unchanged over the C63 S’ twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine, meaning the same 375kW of power and 700Nm of torque is still sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. However, it does add 402mm ventilated cross-drilled carbon ceramic front rotors gripped by six piston callipers while a floating single pot setup takes care of things at the back in conjunction with 360mm rear discs.
The limited-edition AMG rolls on a staggered wheel setup measuring 19-inches up front and 20-inches out back. The ultra-lightweight AMG twin-spoke forged alloy wheels are then finished off in matte black.
Speaking of colour, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Coupé Aero Edition 63 is offered in a choice of Polar White or Iridium Silver paint, and badged as 1 of only 63. As mentioned in the headlines, these specimens will set you back $188,600 (MRLP)
