But woah, $88k.
German luxury marque Mercedes-Benz are pulling every trick they can to try and push their X-Class ‘luxury ute’ out the door, with the range-topping X350d V6 model gaining a flashy ‘First Edition’ variant as if it’s an AMG car. The First Edition throws a bunch of aesthetic tweaks at the big pick-up and makes it look that much more aggressive, though that’ pretty much it.
Coming in July, the X350d First Edition will set potential buyers back $87,500 (before ORCs) for a chance to own a limited-run ute, though Mercedes themselves haven’t detailed just how limited it’ll be.
For the money you get standard metallic paint in either black, grey, or white, while exterior touches like the three-pointed star, fog-light garnishes, door handles, tailgate handle, badging, bumper valances, roof rails, belt line trim, and 19-inch alloys all get finished in black. If you opt for a black car, the details get done in gloss black, while the sports stripes are done in grey. If you opt for grey or white, everything gets finished in matte black instead for maximum contrast.
You also get a colour-coded bed-liner and tonneau cover, as well as a black ‘styling bar’ in the back and tubed side steps down the, uh, side. Step inside and you get to enjoy the luxuries of ‘Edition 1’ floormats & dash badge, as well as the usual niceties like heated leather seats, rear privacy glass, and an electrically-operated rear windowpane.
The X350d First Edition is based on the Power variant, and so it’s powered y a 190kW and 500Nm turbodiesel 3.0-litre V6, with power going to all four wheels via a 4Matic all-wheel drive system. It’s not a bad donk as far as oilers go, with smooth progress and decent refinement to be had. Frankly it’d better have those things, considering it’s within spitting distance of $100k…
The X350d First Edition will be available in July, but are open to order today.
