Car Showroom has not seen nor driven the latest MGs - in fact MG has never bothered to contact us -  but ANCAP was scathing after the MG6’s barrier test (frontal offset) resulted in serious leg injuries for the driver and front-seat passenger while deployment of the driver’s airbag still allowed head contact with the outer rim of the steering wheel  - the first time we’ve heard of any airbag-equipped car failing so badly.

“Consumers now expect new car to have a 5 star ANCAP safety rating, so the 4 star rating for the MG6 may be a deal breaker for some when it comes to making their purchase decision,” explained ANCAP boss Lauchlan McIntosh.
