For the 2020 model year, Mitsubishi Motors Australia (MMAL) has given the Eclipse Cross a mild update and introduced an all-wheel drive addition to the front-driven mid-range LS variant. Previously the AWD system was only available on the range-topping Exceed.
In terms of pricing, the Exceed gets a hike of $200 for a total driveaway price of $39,190 while the newly introduced variant commands a sticker price of $34,490. That’s a $3,000 premium over its front-driven derivative. Meanwhile, prices for the front-wheel drive LS and ES variants remain unchanged for 2020.
As for changes, the Eclipse Cross Exceed will receive front door trims with illumination and a black interior headlining. Furthermore, the Black Edition now gains automatic high beams, dusk sensing headlamps, fog lamps, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a forward collision mitigation system.
The range is powered by an all-aluminum 1.5-litre direct-injection four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 110kW at 5,500rpm and 250Nm from between 2,000-3,500 revs. It’s mated to a CVT automatic with 8 virtual ratios.
The Eclipse Cross comes with choice of seven colours, namely, Lightning Blue, Black, Titanium, Sterling Silver, Starlight, White and Red Diamond. The brand has reportedly hiked the prices of metallic paints to $690 while its ‘Prestige Paint’ (Red Diamond) is an additional $890.
