The roll-out of Alfa Romeo’s new 1750 TBi, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine now includes the stylish 159 Sportwagon.
Driving through a six-speed manual transmission, the 1750 159 Sportwagon joins the existing 3.2-litre V6 petrol and 2.4-litre turbo-diesel versons, both of which are now six-speed automatics.
The Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon 1750TBi is available in two model grades – the standard, priced at $51,990 and the up-spec Ti, stickered at $56,480. Amongst its extras, the Ti versions gain sports suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, a body kit and electrically-operated seats trimmed in hand-crafted soft Italian leather.
Alfa Romeo’s 1.742-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine runs direct injection and turbocharger to delivers 147kW at 5,000rpm and 320Nm from 1,400rpm. Zero to 100km/h takes 7.9 seconds and Alfa Romeo says combined cycle fuel consumption averages 8.3l/100kms.
