Entry to Hyundai’s good-looking, award-winning i45 mid-size sedan range now starts at $26,990 thanks to a new 2.0-litre variant.
The new Hyundai i45 entry level models (six-speed manual and automatic transmissions) provide 121kW of power at 6200rpm and peak torque of 198Nm at 4600rpm. With combined cycle fuel consumption of 7.6l/100kms, Hyundai says the new 2.0-litre i45 is Australia’s most fuel-efficient petrol-engined mid-sizer (4.5 stars in the federal government’s Green Vehicle Guide).
Hyundai only offers the 2.0-litre powerplant in the entry-level ‘Active’ trim specification, but of course all i45 models boast extensive technology and safety including stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes and hill-start assist.
Interestingly, Hyundai’s strategy for it mid-size sedan conflicts with sister company Kia whose superb Optima is only available in one, top-spec version priced at $36,990. But really both represent outstanding value for mid-size sedan buyers.
Hyundai’s 2.0-litre i45 is now on-sale.
