New £355 Million Engine Plant For Jaguar-Land Rover

Jaguar-Land Rover is investing £355 million in a new, state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility in Staffordshire, England.

The new plant will build a new family of fuel-efficient, four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines to power future Jaguar and Land Rover models and is part of the company’s plans to invest £1.5 billion each year for the next five years on new product developments.

Jaguar-Land Rover will employ and extra 750 workers when the plant is operational with many more jobs being created amongst supplier companies. Currently Jaguar-Land Rover directly employs 19,000 people in the UK with thousands more working amongst its suppliers and dealers.

India’s giant Tata Motors group now owns Jaguar-Land Rover and in announcing the new engine facility, Jaguar-Land Rover CEO, Dr Ralf Speth said: “As part of our long-term strategy for the Jaguar-Land Rover business, we will design, engineer and manufacture a new family of advanced engines. This is a major commitment for our company and we will produce these advanced, highly efficient engines for future Jaguar and Land Rover models at a new facility in the UK.”
