The slick Volvo XC60 – Volvo’s top-selling model in Australia – scores a new diesel engine as part of its model year 2013 updates.
Dubbed the XC60 D4, the new turbo-diesel Volvo joins the T5 model to provide the Swedish giant with a two-pronged front-wheel-drive XC60 lineup.
Power comes from the potent five-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel (a Car Showroom favourite) delivering 120kW of power at 3500rpm and peak torque of 400Nm from 2500rpm. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.9l/100kms (combined cycle) and exhaust C02 emissions score 182g/km.
Other additions for the updated Volvo XC60 include the innovative camera-based Road Sign Information System (on the options list). The forward-facing camera detects signs for speed limits and other warnings and displays the information on the dashboard – and if you’re exceeding the speed limit, the illuminated figure flashes three times.
There’s also an updated version of City Safety collision avoidance, auto headlights with tunnel detection, active high beam, a new colour (Rebel Blue) and new optional 20-inch alloy wheels.
