HSV has gone more high-tech and upmarket with its latest luxurious WM3 model Grange.
But probably of more importance to HSV customers is under the bonnet – the new Grange follows the lead of the GTS model in securing the 325kW/550NM LS3 6.2-litre V8.
For those chasing economy – such as limousine drivers – the latest Grange can be optioned with HSV’s LPI LPG technology which injects the fuel as a liquid rather than a vapour. The LPG Grange can also run on regular unleaded fuel, but HSV says using LPG delivers a 15 per cent decrease in fuel costs.
The new Grange also debuts HSV’s Side Blind Side Alert (SBZA) system which alerts the driver if objects are passing the vehicle’s blind spot. A feature in European vehicles, HSV says this is the first time a system like this has been fitted to an Australian-made car.
Externally there’s new treatments for both the rear and front ends – the latter incorporating Daytime Running Lights. HSV says the new Grange’s more muscly look delivers an enhanced on-road presence.
Inside there is a new leather trim in ‘Light Urban’ (Onyx Black is retained). New Grange also scores HSV’s Enhanced Driver Interface (EDI) – an intuitive touch-screen which provides real-time vehicle dynamics and performance data.
“The Grange buyer traditionally wants the most luxurious and technologically advanced Australian-made performance car there is,” explained HSV Managing Director, Phil Harding. “Grange has always fitted that de scription well, but the new styling, increased power and extra technology makes WM3 a compelling proposition for a luxury car buyer that is passionate about driving.”
