A combination of more power and reduced fuel consumption is rarely achieved, but this is the reality with the new Lexus 450h hybrid SUV which debuted at the Melbourne Motor Show.
The second generation of Lexus’ hybrid RX 450h is powered by an all-new 3.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with petrol/electric hybrid drive system which combine to deliver 220kW of power – that’s some 20kW better than the superseded model.
Yet fuel consumption is claimed to be improved by up to 12 per cent.
Lexus claims the new RX 450h can deliver this abundant power while returning fuel consumption figures to match a four-cylinder family sedan.
The RX 450h is the hero of the just-launched new Lexus RX lineup.
The RX 450h combines with hybrid versions of the GS and luxury LS to make a very bold statement about the commitment of Lexus to this fuel-saving technology.
