Nissan Australia has confirmed, ahead of its September arrival, that the 370Z NISMO will be on sale with a starting price of $61,490. Upon that local introduction, it will sit at the top of its respective model range much like its stablemate, the GT-R NISMO.
As the most high performance 370Z, the NISMO is only available as a hardtop, though the standard Coupe and Roadster variants are still available for the slightly less performance inclined, though they miss out on the sharper suspension tune, 19-inch forged RAYS alloys, uprated brakes, and generally more in-your-face styling tweaks, including red accents on its lip spoiler, side mirrors, and rear diffuser. Inside, there’s yet more red highlights, this time overlaid on its black upholstery and trim.
Despite not mimicking the choice of having a soft top, it does offer the same choice of transmission: the close-ratio 6-speed manual or a 7-speed torque converter automatic with paddle shifters.
Under the bonnet, the 3.7-litre naturally-aspirated V6 engine is largely left unchanged. And though Nissan Australia has yet to confirm final specifications, it’s likely that the NISMO will arrive with a revised tune that improves response while upping power and torque slightly. In the UK, for example, both figures were raised to 253kW and 371Nm over the base car’s 245kW and 363Nm.
They’ve also used the occasion to announce new pricing for the non-NISMO 370Z, which now stars from $49,990. A significant slash considering that prior to this it began at close to $57,000.
On both announcements, Nissan Australia’s managing director Richard Emery said: “The impending arrival of the Nissan 370Z NISMO allowed us to re-look at pricing across all variants. The NISMO version naturally sits at the top of the Nissan 370Z range, but we wanted to maintain competitive pricing. This re-positioning offers a range of price points that will be attractive to a wider group of customers.”
