Let’s be honest: If you have a three-row SUV, you bought one because you needed the space for all your kids and/or their stuff, and didn’t want an MPV. If you can come to terms with that, then you can probably get to grips with the harsh reality that your SUV has probably never ventured very far off bitumen, and the last time it got anywhere near rough stuff was when you had to do a three point turn by a field.

The Pathfinder Rock Creek Edition, launched this week in the US market, is here to show off additional bits & bobs that can make the Pathfinder look like a more exciting, go-anywhere machine, even if it’s more show than go. The Rock Creek edition aims to capitalise on “the rugged Pathfinder heritage,” which as far as we can work out is more in reference to the achievements of the Navara, upon which the Pathfinder used to be based.
Opting for the US$995 option bags you 18-inch alloys with all-season tyres, and gloss-black finished versions of the grille, roof rails, door handles, side mirrors, fascia trims front & rear, wheel arch extensions, and badging. Inside, you get dual-tone upholstery, ‘Rock Creek’ badging & stitching, contrast seams, and metallic cabin trim.
You also get a standard trailer hitch & splash guards for the money. Not bad, eh?
Now before you put your order for a Pathfinder on hold and wait for the Rock Creek pack, just know that Nissan Australia has not confirmed it for our market. That said they are aware just how much buyers here would appreciate such an option, so they’re looking into it.
