The snow-bound Chicago Auto Show might be a strange place to unveil an open-top roadster but that didn’t stop Nissan wheeling out this 370Z Nismo Roadster.
Nismo is Nissan’s motor sport division and under the direction of Nissan-Renault chief Carlos Ghosn has been given the green light to freewheel high performance road cars – we already have the Juke Nismo, 370Z Nismo and the entire 2015 GT-R Nismo production is sold out.
Boom! Here’s the Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster which naturally incorporates much of the 370Z Nismo coupe’s goodies.
So you get the 3.7-litre DOHC V6 engine enhanced by Nismo to deliver 262kW/375Nm and driving through the seven-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shifters and throttle-blipping downchanges and shorter final drive ratio in the viscous limited-slip differential.
Exterior styling gets the hallmark Nismo red stripeand aero changes inspired by the GT-R.
At the front is a new fascia and hyper LRD DRLs, a carbon-fibre rear spoiler and 19-inch Nismo alloy wheels from RAYS (19x9.5-inch at the front and 19x10.5-inch at the rear).
Inside are black leather Recaro seats with off-white Ultrasuede inserts, Alcantara-wrapped three-spoke sports steering wheel, Nismo instruments and a Bose audio system.
Nissan said in Chicago the 370 Nismo Roadster is a concept but you can be pretty sure this muscled-up Z-car is on its way into limited production.
