Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn was in Brazil last week to announce production of an all-new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine.
Tipped to deliver 56kW/98Nm, the new 3-cylinder engine is slated for the Nissan Versa which will become the second vehicle the Japanese giant will be producing in Rio de Janeiro State.
Nissan’s Resende Powertrain plant is part of a US$1.5-billion investment by Nissan in Brazil which employs 1,500 people and can produce up to 200,000 vehicles and engines per year.
