Look for the Pulsar name to return to Nissan dealerships when a new range of small cars replaces the current Tiida model next year.
Nissan Australia boss Dan Thompson dropped the Pulsar name numerous times while talking with the motoring media this week at an X-TRAIL event in Mount Hotham, Victoria.
When pressed, Mr Thompson said he was waiting for some final research findings before absolutely committing to Pulsar's return.
However there seems little doubt the unloved Tiida nameplate will be jettisoned to make way for a return of the Pulsar badge when Nissan’s next generation small car debuts next year.
Other new Nissan products confirmed for 2012 include a diesel engine powered Dualis and of course the stunning, all-new, super-luxury, V8-powered Patrol SUV.
Talking of the Patrol, Mr Thompson said there was still no immediate prospect of a diesel engine for the all-new model, so Nissan is sticking with its previously stated position of selling the current Y 61 Patrol diesel alongside the all-new V8 petrol version.
