Mercedes-Benz Australia has launched a totally on-line purchasing platform for its compact ‘smart’ brand.
Developed in conjunction with DataMotive, the smart system allows payment in full via a credit card or a $2,000 deposit and the balance using Bpay.
Insurance and finance options are not currently available on-line but will be added shortly.
“While there have been opportunities for customers with other brands to secure a vehicle on-line with a deposit, the difference with this platform is that every single detail including calculation of on road and delivery costs, the amount of payment in full, service packages and dealer delivery point, can be completed via the platform, and won’t be restricted to a specific time period,” explained Mercedes-Benz Australia chief Horst von Sanden.
Already the first ‘smart’ on-line sale has been completed and Morrison Motors in Chatswood, NSW is set to deliver a ‘smart’ ForTwo to a Sydney customer downsizing from a larger vehicle and starved of time to visit a dealership and conduct the usual negotiations.
