It was announced today that French carmaker Peugeot is issuing a recall for its 4008 SUV, over concerns that the vehicles could suffer a delay in acceleration.
The manufacturer said that on models equipped with the continuously-variable transmission (CVT), affected vehicles could experience a sudden lack of power, which could potentially lead to an accident.
The recall affects vehicles sold between May 2014 and December 2015, and owners can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) against a list here.
Though not confirmed by Peugeot, the recall notice for the 4008 is linked to a similar notice issued by Mitsubishi, which recalled the ASX (upon which the 4008 is based) for a similar issue.
Peugeot Australia will be in touch with owners by mail, and the recall will see affected vehicles be given a software upgrade for the transmission control unit to rectify the problem. Owners are advised to visit their local dealers to address the issue, which will be performed at no cost.
