But not quite the full reveal just yet.
Ahead of the local launches, Peugeot’s local arm has brought some details on their incoming 3008 & 5008 SUVs to light. While it’s hardly a full itemised spec sheet, it does give a better idea of what to expect when the former hits showrooms next month and the latter arrives early next year.
The 3008 will arrive in August and give cars like the Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV-4 a run for their money, with generous levels of standard kit across the range. The gorgeous 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster and 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display will feature across all four trimlines, which will start with the Active.
3008 Actives will get things like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), a smattering of airbags, driver attention warnings, cruise control, speed limiter, and speed limit recognition as standard. Step up to the Allure, and you gain keyless entry and go, dual-zone climate control, privacy glass, DAB digital radio, satellite navigation, aluminium roof-rails and 18-inch alloys. Options for the Allure include things like electric adjustment for the front seats (replete with massage function), wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof and full-LED headlights.
Those LED headlights will be standard on GT-Line and GT variants when they arrive here, while alloys ranging from 17- to 19-inches in diameter are available as options as well. Cargo space is rated at 520L, expandable to 1428L with the second-row seats folded flat. No details were given for the GT-Line and GT models, so we’ll have to wait a little while longer for those.
All but the top-spec 3008 will see motivation from the same 1.6-litre turbo-petrol with 121kW and 240Nm, sending power exclusively to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic. The GT model on the other hand gets a 2.0-litre turbodiesel with a healthy 133kW/400Nm, with the torque coming on song from just 2000rpm. Should be a hoot on the motorway.
The bigger 5008 is aimed squarely at the larger end of the SUV market, with cars like the Kia Sorento and Skoda Kodiaq in its sight. Only the 5008 GT has been detailed in the release, and promises to be chocked full with enough trim to keep the competition awake at night. The 5008 GT will pack things like nappa leather, keyless entry and go, dual-zone climate control, 19-inch alloys, electric front pews with massage functionality, full-LED headlights, privacy glass, and active driver assistance. Strangely, an electric tailgate is left as an option, along with things like a panoramic sunroof and wireless phone charging.
The same 2.0-litre turbodiesel from the 3008 will be employed in the bigger 5008 too, with power also being sent to the front wheels via the same six-speed automatic gearbox. Join us to wait patiently for more details on the 5008, that will come about sometime Q1 2018.
