World premieres for the Geneva Motor Show the week after next keep coming – the latest being Audi’s 150kW/350Nm plug-in hybrid A3 e-tron.
With zero to 100km/h in just 7.6 seconds and fuel economy of 1.5l/100kms, the Audi A3 e-tron sounds like the kind of hybrid we could enjoy every day.
The five-door hatchback is powered by Audi’s 110kW 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine with a 75kW electric motor. Drive is to the front wheels via a new six-speed S tronic transmission and on deceleration both the electric and petrol motors ‘glide’ (saving fuel by eliminating engine braking).
You can drive the Audi A3 e-tron with both petrol and electric motors providing ‘boosted’ propulsion, or you can choose to have power sourced from either the petrol engine or the electric motor (which you could use for local or city commuting with zero emissions).
