Volvo is now offering a Performance Optimisation package by in-house tuner Polestar for the XC90 T8 Twin Engine SUV, raising its output to 314kW and 680Nm and making it the most powerful production Volvo ever.
In addition to the boost in power (by 10kW and 40Nm), Volvo claims that the Polestar treatment hasn’t diluted the XC90’s credentials in terms of offering impressive low emissions and fuel consumption numbers, keeping the standard car’s 2.1-litres/100km (and 43km of pure electric range from its 9.2kWh battery) efficiency while boasting a 5.5 second 0-100km/h sprint time.
The Polestar tune up also covers key areas of the drivetrain, with enhances made to sharpen throttle response, gearshift (hold, speed, precision) as well as calibration and mapping work to bring out a sportier overall personality from the XC90 T8.
”Just a week after the introduction of the S90 and V90 optimisation, we move forward by launching our optimisation for the exciting and technically advanced XC90 T8 Twin Engine. This gives customers who want a new level of driving pleasure with their XC90 an easily accessible and attractive performance increase,” said Niels Möller, Chief Operating Officer of Polestar.
The standard XC90 T8 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is both turbocharged and supercharged to generate 238kW and 400Nm to drive the front wheels, augmented by a 65kW/240Nm electric motor in charge of driving the rear wheels.
Just like the recently revealed Polestar Performance Optimisation options for the Volvo S90 and V90, the XC90’s upgrades are made with certified emissions, fuel consumption, and service intervals, with all Volvo warranties unchanged.
