Proton has boosted its Preve sedan range with the introduction of a GXR variant which shares the same turbocharged 1.6-litre engine as the Suprema S. With 103kW/205Nm on-tap, performance should be impressive.
The sporty version of the Preve drives via Proton’s Pro Tronic seven-step CVT automatic transmission with steering wheel paddle shifters for manual changes – a six-speed manual model will follow.
Proton says it is the most sophisticated four-door model with specifications including six airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and Lotus-developed suspension. Proton says the Preve GXR is a five-star ANCAP rated vehicle.
List price is $23,990 ‘Driveaway’, but for launch, Proton is throwing-in a $1,000 factory bonus so $22,990 is all you’ll need.
