Norfolk-based sports car manufacturer, Lotus, has given us lot a bit of a sneak peek at how the super-rich get along with the business of customising their hyper cars. Lotus is offering personalisation options to their customers as Lotus prepares to put the Evija into production.
As a quick refresher, the Evija was the secret Lotus teased us with, codenamed “Type 130”. The Evija (pronounced with a silent ‘J’) is an all-electric hypercar that is driven by four immense motors, one on each wheel, and is said to have a total system output of around 1,471kW. Yes, you read that right. 1.4MW of power, and an estimated 1,700Nm of torque. The Evija is estimated to cost around $3 million.
For those who put down the six-figure deposit and want something bespoke for their money, Lotus will direct you over to their all-new touchscreen configurator. The tool allows customers to apply their creativity in creating a tailor-made Lotus. From paint colours to interior trim, everything is up for grabs.
The configurator tool itself was designed specifically for Hethel using “ultra-powerful graphics processors to create stunning high-definition ‘photo-realistic’ images and animations. Developed using advanced gaming software, these allow the buyer to build and personalise their own car from the ground up and visualise it from every angle, inside and out.” said the brand.
Furthermore, thanks to an imaging technique known as ray-tracing, Lotus is even able to place the Evija in almost any environment on earth. With this, you can see how your Evija looks like around the world and how localised sunlight will affect your choices, such as exterior paint. The example you see here is finished in Atomic Red. Brilliant.
“We know every customer journey will be unique and our highly experienced customer relations team is ready to support any requests. With state-of-the-art digital tools such as the new configurator, we can accommodate customer preferences and requirements from anywhere in the world at the touch of a button,” said Simon Clare, Executive Director, Global Marketing, Lotus.
