Infiniti has not had a premium sedan model in its range since the breakthrough Q45 model from the 1990s but Nissan’s premium brand announced in Paris it intends to return and “disrupt the premium saloon category”.
The vehicle will be based on this car – the Infiniti Q80 Inspiration, a sumptuous hybrid with flowing lines and fastback contouring.
Inside are four individual seats and dual head-up displays (the passenger’s side for external infotainment) and each reat seat passenger has their own touch-screen for on-board entertainment.
Power comes from a 410kW twin-turbocharged V6 petrol hybrid drivetrain which Infiniti says will usher-in a new engine portfolio for the brand. The Q80 on display in Paris had a switchable all-wheel-drive system.
Expect a production version from Infiniti within two years.
