Pronunciation is difficult after a few Chiantis, but priced at $34,990, Alfa Romeo dealers should have no problems selling the third member of the MiTo compact hatchback family – the Quadrifoglio.
With dynamic adaptive suspension, the new 1.4-litre, 125kW/250Nm turbocharged MultiAir engine with Stop&Start technology and new six-speed manual transmission, the newcomer actually overshadows MiTo’s Sport model.
MiTo Quadrifoglio accelerates from zero to 100km/h in 7.5 seconds but returns combined cycle fuel economy as low as 6.0l/100kms. C02 emissions are rated at 139g/km.
Typically Alfa Romeo, the MiTo Quadrifoglio delivers high performance driving dynamics with adjustable suspension damping with the driver simply selecting the ‘Dynamic’, ‘Normal’ or ‘All-Weather’ setting. The system works in tune with Alfa Romeo’s Electronic Q2 limited slip differential.
Externally, the Quadrifoglio MiTo is distinguished by 17-inch darkened alloy wheels and brushed titanium-look trim elements while inside and all-black colour scheme is punctuated by white lighting for the instrument panel.
We look forward to getting Alfa’s latest onto the roads here in Melbourne for our usual week-long test procedure.
