2015-2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Recalled; 198 Vehicles Affected

Mercedes-Benz announced a recall notice for almost 200 units of the previous-generation E-Class over issues with the fuel pump. It was clarified to us that the wiring harness for the fuel pump may, in some cases, come into contact with the rear seat base frame.

Should the wiring harness and seat base frame come into contact, it can adversely affect the operations of multiple fuel system components. This can cause the fuel pump to fail entirely, leading to an engine stall.

Naturally, should the engine stall in the midst of a journey, it would pose considerable hazard to the occupants of the vehicle itself, as well as surrounding road users.

Mercedes-Benz Australia will be in touch with the owners of the 198 affected vehicles via mail. However, we advise potentially-affected owners to get in touch with Mercedes-Benz Australia via their customer carline at (03) 9566 9266.
