Renault Boosts Brazil Production

In another sign of Renault’s global sales growth, the company has announced production at its plant in Curitiba, Brazil will be boosted by 100,000 vehicles per year from 2013. The extra capacity will lift total Brazil production for Renault (passenger cars and LCVs) to 380,000 units and create 1,000 new jobs.

Currently Brazil is Renault’s third-largest market (behind France and Germany) but is likely to round-out this year as number two and along with India and Russia is a focus for the French giant’s growth plans.

Funding the expansion will cost Renault €200 million and plans include engineering and training centres to support the current plants which manufacture passenger cars, LCVs and engines. Vehicles manufactured at Renault’s ‘Ayrton Senna Complex’ in Curitiba, Brazil are also exported to Argentina and Mexico.
