The historic 'Gordini' badge is returning to the Renault lineup with the launch in Europe of the Clio Gordini RS and Twingo Gordini RS models.
Renault Australia is confident the Gordini version will be part of its 2010 Clio RS range.
The traditional Gordini bright blue paintwork with two bold white stripes has been part of the Renault heritage.
Developed by racing engineer Amedee Gordini over a 20 year period, some 200,000 Renault Gordinis were sold. His much-loved Renault R8 Gordinis claimed the first five places in the 1964 Tour of Corsica Rally and in 1966, the 1300 version launched the Gordini Cup racing series.
Since then the Gordini-badged sports sedans have become part of motor sport folklore in France and throughout the world.
The company's sporting arm RST (Renault Sport Technologies) - one of Europe's most-respected high performance operations - is responsible for the rebirth of the Gordini badge.
