Coinciding with the Australian introduction of the all-new Megane hatchback lineup, Renault has launched the latest Megane Coupe-Cabriolet.

The stylish folding hardtop four-seater is priced from $45,990.

Styling reflects the new Megane look at the front while the rear features a sculptured boot and eye-catching LED taillights.

Interior space is increased over the outgoing model and the folding hardtop (operational time 21 seconds) is the largest in the segment at almost one square metre and features a glossy black roof and heated glass rear window. That extra space results from larger overall dimensions – at 4,485mm, the newcomer is 130mm longer than its predecessor and the wheelbase is 87mm longer.

Boot capacity with the roof closed in an impressive 417-litres and Renault says the trunk’s 258mm height when the roof is open is the largest in the segment.

Under the bonnet is Renault’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which delivers 103kW/195Nm and drives the front wheel via a CVT automatic transmission.

The Megane Coupe-Cabriolet runs firmer springs and anti-roll bars than its hatchback siblings – to cater for the extra weight of the roof system, chassis stiffening and A-pillar rollbar.

Renault says extensive development was undertaken to ensure the latest Megane Coupe-Cabriolet provides impressively low levels of interior noise – not only by minimizing the inherent noises around the cabrio roof but also isolating outside traffic sounds which often intrude in vehicles like this.

Renault hopes the all-new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will steal sales from the dominant Volkswagen EOS.
