Croatian supercar firm does it again.
Rimac might not be a name that you’re immediately familiar with, but we can assure you that it’s a marque that you need to pay more attention to. Their first car, the Rimac Concept One, was an education on the velocity and performance that can be offered by an electric powertrain, when well-engineered and throughly thought through.
And the C_Two, its second car? Essentially it’s more of the same, just better.
Here are the figures: 1,408kW. 2300Nm. 100km/h from rest in 1.97-seconds.
And the top-speed? 412km/h. To put that into perspective, the most synonymous name with top-speed runs, the Bugatti Chiron, has a mere 1103kW and 1600Nm. And that has an 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 powerplant.
Rather amazingly, the C_Two has a cruising range of 650km on a single charge, thanks to an absolutely enormous 120kWh battery pack. And with access to a 250kW fast charger (where the hell are you going to find those?) you can charge your Rimac C_Two to 80% capacity in just 30-minutes.
Despite the blistering performance, the C_Two isn’t furnished like a dog kennel inside. You’ll find a full leather cabin, with electrically adjustable seats and a similar motorised system for the steering wheel. The instrument cluster is all digital, and there’s an iPad-like central touchscreen that handles infotainment and non-driving related functions too.
Oh, and there’s a fire extinguisher in there too, in case a certain British motoring presenter takes it out for a drive…
The C_Two will even cater to you if you don’t want to drive at all. The C_Two is said to be Level 4 autonomous driving ready, with a full battery of sensors and cameras allowing the car to pilot itself in most situations. Looking out for you you’ll find no less than 8 cameras on board, a LIDAR sensor, six mid-distance radars and twelve ultrasonic sensors.
And if you don’t want a key, Rimac’s got you covered too. Like a new smartphone, the C_Two comes standard with facial recognition, rendering the key obsolete. And all this, comes in at a reasonable… actually, we don’t know and Rimac hasn’t said. They have mentioned a production run of 150 cars though, but precious little else.
